Carlo & Sophia called me up, desiring an adventure session in Breckenridge, Colorado, to capture photos of their life together in the place that they met and fell in love. Carlo is originally from Hawaii, and after living in quaint snowy Breckenridge for 6 years, then meeting this beautiful gal, the two planned to move back to his warm island of Maui. Carlo knew of my wedding and elopement work as a photographer and really wanted photos that were more intimate and emotional, photos that would remind them of their time in Colorado. We met in Breckenridge and traveled together, with our dogs of course, towards Blue River. (Always bring your dog to go hiking with me!) Quandary Mountain appeared, tall and demanding, as we left town. Carlo took the Quandary turn that connected to a dirt road and we wound around amongst pine trees that allowed glimpses of the towering mountains. The trees slowly thinned and we were greeted by a valley with a glistening lake. This signaled the end of the road and we hopped out of the car to take it all in. It was easy on the eyes, to say the least. We spent our time together hiking through the valley, up on rocks and down into crevasses that snowmelt had created over the years. Carlo and Sophia are so in love and they were not afraid to show it as I walked around in their midst. I had to include all of the smiles they shared alongside Sophia’s model worthy looks. Isn’t she stunning? It’s really no wonder Carlo put a ring on it shortly after our hike! See, these two lovebirds left town as I worked on editing their photos. They took a long cross-country road trip before their big move to Maui, and Carlo popped the question. You’ll have to wait for my Hawaii blog next month to hear how it happened, because I’ll be joining them in Maui at the end of January to photograph their official engagement photos!

I’m so happy with how this adventure session turned out and I hope you enjoy looking through the gallery. Adventurous couples and going on epic hikes are two of my favorite things so it made sense business-wise to combine them. I hope 2018 brings many more couples willing to strap on hiking boots and follow me through the woods, maybe even you and your honey!
